The case studies below are examples from my time as creative director at Hot House Marketing in Victoria. In all cases, I was the art director and designer and, on occassion, the copy writer.
Victoria International High School Programs
In January 2004, the Victoria International School Program approached Hot House to re-brand the organization and to develop consistent brand identity across all of their marketing communication materials. Aside from having a variety of inconsistent materials, the organization had experienced frustration over a lack of design and production quality with past vendors.
Planet Poker
Continuing a long-standing relationship, Planet Poker approached Hot House in 2005 to develop and implement an advertising and direct mail campaign targeting potential online poker players to its site. Targeting a young audience, the ads used aggressive copy and strong imagery to establish their message. We coordinated all aspects of the project, including copywriting, design and mailing.
Success By 6, South Vancouver Island
In August 2005, the South Vancouver Island chapter of Success by 6 approached Hot House to develop marketing materials that would generate awareness in the South Vancouver Island market about its localized initiatives while complementing the collateral provided by the provincial organization.
Great Unsolved Mysteries in Canadian History
Since 2003, Hot House has been a partner in this nationwide, collaborative project. The “Great Unsolved Mysteries in Canadian History” project is focused on providing high-quality materials to high schools and universities for the teaching of historical methods and Canadian History. The project has started a series of instructional websites based on the premise that students can be drawn into Canadian history and archival research through the enticement of solving historical cold crimes. All the material is provided free as a public service.
